Rami Rivera Frankl

In 2022, Rami was appointed by the 40 th U.S. Secretary of Commerce to serve on the District Export Council of SoCal, to encourage and facilitate U.S. companies to export their products and services internationally. The Council also established a Media and Entertainment Committee, chaired by Rami. Additionally, he served two-terms as co-chair of the Directors Guild of America’s Latino Committee, promoting DEI in Hollywood.

Rami was a pioneer in the home entertainment industry, recruited by Universal Studios’ Digital Media Lab to help develop video compression (Mpeg-2) encoding systems and DVD technologies. After several years of building and managing digital media departments—helping develop Spruce Software, later sold to Apple—Rami co-founded HobokenWest Digital Media, producing more than 500 DVD projects for such clients as MGM, Sony, Paramount, Disney, Fox, Toyota USA, Universal, Panasonic, Warner Bros., New Line Cinema and Vivendi.

Rami founded DragonTree Media in 2009, producing the film 186 Dollars to Freedom, which was licensed to Amazon and Netflix. Hired as President of Post Production by Empire Films/Tayrona Distribution, Rami traveled throughout Mexico and Central/South America to set up distribution for independent, U.S. films; and helped launch Sherwood Media at the request of stakeholders when the company was sold. Rami expanded DragonTree to include technologies in 2019 and, early in 2024, launched DragonTree Investment Group.

A fellow of KPMG’s Ph.D. Project, Rami is a Pepperdine Graziadio Business School graduate of the President and Key Executive MBA program, is a 140 cohort and is an advisor to their Institute of Entertainment, Media, Sports and Culture. Rami holds Series 63 and 82 registrations with FINRA.
